Best of Summit: What even is it?

The Summit Daily News holds a local contest for local businesses every year, called the Best of Summit. It features companies throughout Summit County, in different categories and allows the community to vote online to see who wins. The categories are Best Arts & Entertainment, Best Community, Best Food & Drink (Arapahoe Cafe's category of choice), Best Services, Best Shopping, and last but not least, Best Recreation.

Over a few months each year, businesses all over Summit County, from Breckenridge to Dillon, are nominated by locals and visitors to win their categories. After the nomination phase is complete, voting begins! And after votes are tallied, results are usually in and declared in mid-October. To celebrate, the Summit Daily hosts a party where over 250 business owners and community members attend.

After almost 17 years (our anniversary is in December) of owning the Arapahoe Cafe, Doug and Bonnie are thrilled to be still winning awards and to be able to celebrate each year.

Best of Summit History

In the past, the Arapahoe Cafe has won many awards in the Best of Summit! For example, in 2016, we won Best Barbeque, Best Lunch, and Best Restaurant in Dillon. When we had our catering business, we often won the best caterer. Often, we have won the best Breakfast, Best Bloody Mary, and even Best Lunch.

Indeed, we have a rich history of locals and visitors alike supporting us in Summit County. We are so honored and excited to have won awards throughout the county, competing against restaurants in Breckenridge, restaurants in Frisco, and even restaurants in Silverthorne.

2019 Best of Summit Awards

This year, Arapahoe Cafe was awarded the Best Restaurant in Dillon and Best BBQ in all of Summit County in 2019 Best of Summit competition! That means we beat out all the other excellent Dillon restaurants and barbeque places in Breckenridge, Frisco, Silverthorne, and Keystone. Not to mention, we were also awarded second-best Bloody Mary and Burger in the county.

Best of Summit & The Future

At Arapahoe Cafe, our goal is to win Best of Summit for many years to come. We strive to use the freshest ingredients, use tried and tested recipes, hire fantastic staff, and continue to serve this community we love so much. We are thrilled to work and live in a place where our community shows up, votes for us, and enjoys our restaurant.
